Hi guys! I'm planning a big build on the hydra desk for next fall - better play it early, right?
The only thing the desk is missing IMO is the ability to attach a monitor. Using it with the native mount takes away space from the beautiful glass panel and everything underneath, especially if you have two or three screens. On the other hand, vesa stands can't be used because you can't pierce the glass to attach them, and the table is too thick for the clamp.
The only option left is to have a vesa wall mount, but if there is no wall behind the desk the situation becomes complicated.
Maybe you could think of an accessory that can pop out from behind the desk somehow, and allow you to attach the screens directly to the table without sacrificing glass space and without having to put the desk against a wall.
If anyone can think of something like this, it's you. I can't wait for the desk to go back into production!
Saluti da Bologna!
Ciao Nicola,
I would also be very interested in the photos. I've also been looking for a monitor stand that can sit directly on the floor, but I can only find them as TV support, so no adjustable arm.
Thank you for answering, keep up with the good work!
Thanks Nicola if you find the postal photos, it is certainly not easy to put in series given the many brackets that are on the market but already preparing a reinforcement on the side band would not be bad, perhaps studying like an L to be fixed so that the weight of the monitor does not serious on the glass, this considering it an extra accessory that the customer requires if he needs it .. I throw it there as an idea ..
@MaxCC a bit late to the discussion, but here we are ^^ What we had a customer do is add two pieces of metal (about 5 mm thick, 25 mm wide) inside the desk (painted white, he liked the "stripes look") and then attached the Vesa mount there (one that looks like the one on that odyssey screen). He did also add a small (about 15 x 8 cm) wood piece between where the mount rests on the glass and the glass itself - if I can find the pictures I'll share them here. Currently that is the bets alternative we have for attaching a monitor to the desk, but if we see demand for it we might look into an official accessory (as what is described above requires quite a bit of DIY work). We look forward to the desks coming back too! (hopefully in the next month or so x)
I thought about doing it this way too, maybe reinforcing the hole area with another steel panel, but I'm still concerned: even if the back fixing done this way makes the monitor stable, the weight of the monitor will transfer to the glass panel through the small surface at the base of the arm, rather than to the metal panel of the desk.. That kind of weight on such a small glass surface could result in disaster!
I would also be very interested in such a solution since I have the desk free from walls and being able to remove the monitor from the glass would be a great thing ... I saw if by making holes on the back side I could attach the ves support but I'm just afraid that the sheet metal is too thin to hold the weight of my monitor (Odyssey G9).
